Our Longest Regular Run

Atlanta is the farthest of the six corridors we run out of Houma, and it’s the one Wade requests when he wants a two-day trip instead of a one-day sprint. The route heads east on I-10 past New Orleans and Slidell, crosses into Mississippi, then climbs north on I-59 through Hattiesburg and Meridian before I-20 carries the last stretch into Atlanta.

A lot of this traffic is corporate relocation: logistics, distribution, and corporate-headquarters jobs pull people out of South Louisiana toward Atlanta’s job market, plus a steady trickle of retirees moving closer to grandkids in the suburbs. We’ve also handled a few moves timed around Georgia Tech and Emory enrollment, parents setting kids up in their first apartment a nine-hour drive from home.

What Changes On A Trip This Long

  • Overnight layover built into the schedule rather than rushed driving
  • Full households almost always ride on a dedicated truck, not shared space
  • Extra padding and strapping for the additional highway hours and elevation changes through Alabama
  • A pre-delivery call the morning of drop-off so you’re not guessing on timing

Atlanta Traffic, Planned For

We build extra buffer into the final approach on I-20 since Atlanta’s metro traffic can turn a clean two-day schedule into a late-afternoon arrival if we don’t plan around rush hour on purpose.

Ballpark Pricing By Home Size

These bands are a starting point — Kim confirms the real number after she has actually walked through what is moving.

Home SizeTypical RangeNotes
Studio / 1BR $2,500–$3,500 Even small loads carry a two-day minimum on this corridor, which sets a higher floor than our shorter routes.
2-3BR $4,200–$6,000 Most corporate-relocation households fall here; price varies with how much packing help you need at the Houma end.
4BR+ $6,800–$9,800 Large homes moving into metro Atlanta suburbs often need a second crew member for stairs and split-level layouts.

Our Services

A one-room load in Bayou Cane and a full house headed out to Atlanta both start with the same nine-service lineup and the same crew roster — nothing gets handed off partway through.

Our Range Of Services Includes

Local Houma Moves

Gray gets the same crew as Bayou Blue -- load it, drive it, set it down, done inside a day regardless of which end of the parish you're on.

Long-Distance & Interstate Moves

Six lanes cover most of what leaves the state from here: Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Jackson, Mobile, Memphis. Whoever wraps it at the yard rides along and carries it in at the other end.

Residential Moves

A Schriever starter home and a bigger Bourg house get the exact same care -- nothing gets set down until you say where it goes.

Learn More →

Apartment & Multi-Family Moves

Elevators booked, move-in windows confirmed -- our crews have worked enough Thibodaux and Raceland complexes to know the routine before we ever knock.

Learn More →

Full-Service Packing

Glassware, mirrors, electronics -- everything gets wrapped against the humidity before it's boxed, whether that's one room in Chauvin or a whole house in Dulac.

Learn More →

Short-Term Storage

Waiting out a closing date in Cut Off or riding out hurricane season before Golden Meadow's ready -- either way, the storage stays dry until you need it back.

Piano Moving

Raised camp in Montegut, slab house in Gibson, doesn't matter -- moving an upright or a baby grand across the bayou just takes the right straps and a crew that's done it before.

Labor-Only Load/Unload Help

Got the truck already for a Larose or Bayou Cane move? We'll send the muscle to load or unload it on your schedule -- you keep the wheel.

Senior & Retirement Moves

A Thibodaux or Raceland downsize doesn't get rushed here -- we go room by room, at whatever pace actually works for the household.

How A Job Actually Runs

What To Expect

A Houma move breaks down into four stages, start to finish — here is what each one looks like.

1

Kim Walks The Job With You

Most of it happens over the phone — stairs, a stilt-house landing, storm-season flexibility, whatever's actually in the house — before she puts a number to it.

2

Jerome Locks In The Paperwork

Coverage, certificate of insurance if a leasing office needs one, and the final number all get confirmed before the crew is dispatched, not worked out after the fact.

3

Wade Or Dominic Runs The Crew

Whichever one is on your job, furniture gets wrapped before anything is carried through a doorway, stairwell, or stilt-house ramp.

4

Setup, Not Just A Drop-Off

Beds get reassembled, boxes land in the room they're labeled for, and the crew takes the packing debris with them on the way out.

Why Houma Keeps Booking Us

Same Crew Chiefs, Year After Year

Wade has run the long-distance side since 2014 and Dominic has led local jobs since 2017 — ask either one about a route or a neighborhood and they'll know it firsthand, not from a training binder.

Stilt Houses And Storm Season Are Normal Here

A piano down a raised staircase, a closing date that slips because of a storm watch, a driveway that floods after a hard rain — none of that throws off the schedule, because it's what most weeks look like in Terrebonne Parish.

One Crew, Start To Finish

Wade's crew loads the truck on Barrow Street and is still the one unloading it whether the drop-off is a short hop to Mobile or the two-day haul up to Atlanta.

What Our Clients Say

★★★★★

“Getting Grandma's old upright down a narrow Larose stairwell sounded like a disaster waiting to happen, but the two guys who showed up had clearly done this before β€” straps, a dolly, and maybe fifteen minutes of careful work.”

Brittany RobichauxLarose · Yelp
★★★★

“Had my own truck already lined up for a Cut Off move and just needed hands to fill it. Two guys showed up, loaded it better than I expected, and were done in under two hours β€” running about twenty minutes behind schedule was the only hiccup.”

Shawn OrdoyneCut Off · Google
★★★★★

“Moved us from Bayou Cane to Houston for my husband's new job. Blaine called before pickup and again before delivery so we knew where the truck was the whole way.”

Questions We Get Most

Bayou Moving answers these on nearly every call from Houma, LA.

How early do I need to lock in a date?

Give us four weeks if you can; this is our longest run and the truck needs to be scheduled around other long-haul jobs the same week. Corporate relocations with a hard start date should call as soon as the transfer is confirmed, not after.

Can a smaller move share truck space to save money?

Not usually on this route. The distance means we don't like splitting a household's belongings across a shared load with a second stop added in; it adds risk without much savings once you account for the extra day. If your move is genuinely small, ask directly and we'll be straight with you about whether it makes sense.

How long is my stuff actually on the truck?

Figure two full days of driving, sometimes a third if we load late or weather slows the Mississippi stretch. We'd rather quote an honest two-day window than promise next-day delivery on a 565-mile run and miss it.

What happens if something is damaged after two days on the road?

Full-value protection applies for the entire trip, door to door, regardless of how many driving days it takes. We document condition at pickup so there's a clear before-and-after if a claim comes up.
