Built by Someone Who Got Stranded Too

Blaine Duplantis didn’t set out to run a moving company. He grew up in Bayou Blue, the son of a shrimp boat captain who kept odd hours chasing the tide out past Cocodrie, and a home-health nurse who drove the back roads to Chauvin and Dulac checking on patients nobody else made time for. After high school he spent twelve years hauling rig equipment and drilling supplies out of the Houma port for an oilfield logistics outfit, learning how to load a flatbed so nothing shifted on the ride up LA-24. He saved for years before buying his own box truck in 2013 — the same year three neighbors on his street got left standing in their driveways by movers who no-showed during hurricane season. Blaine figured Terrebonne Parish deserved a crew that picked up the phone rain or shine, and Bayou Moving has run that way ever since. He still drives the Atlanta and Memphis long runs himself most months, and personally writes a good share of the in-home estimates around Houma and Thibodaux. The trucks still carry a faded parish decal from those first years, because Blaine never saw much reason to hide where the company started.

The Crew Behind the Truck

  • Blaine Duplantis, Owner — Twelve years hauling oilfield freight out of the Houma port taught him how to load a truck; hurricane season taught him why Terrebonne Parish needed a mover who shows up.
  • Renee Melancon, Office Manager — Running the scheduling board since 2015, she’s the reason a crew shows up in Gray or Schriever exactly when she said it would.
  • Kim Tran, Lead Estimator — From Bayou Cane to Raceland, if there’s a walkthrough on the books, it’s likely Kim writing the estimate; she’s done it since 2018 and rarely misses on a truck size.
  • Jerome Batiste, Billing & Insurance Coordinator — He keeps certificates of insurance current, and since 2020 no commercial or multi-family job has stalled at the front desk waiting on his paperwork.
  • Wade Authement, Crew Chief — Ask him how many times he’s run Houston or Atlanta and he’ll shrug; he’s led the long-distance crew since 2014 and stopped counting years back.
  • Dominic Verdin, Crew Chief — Leading the local crew since 2017, Thibodaux and Raceland homeowners probably see him more than they see some of their own neighbors.

Between the six of them, the office has covered nearly every kind of Terrebonne Parish move there is — dock schedules, rig rotations, hurricane evacuations, and the ordinary Tuesday move that just needs doing right. Fourteen of us keep Bayou Moving running, eight on the truck any given week, all W-2 employees — never subcontractors, never day labor off a corner. See how that shows up in the work on our reviews page, or check what’s covered under our services before your move date lands in the thick of hurricane season.

Our Services

A one-room load in Bayou Cane and a full house headed out to Atlanta both start with the same nine-service lineup and the same crew roster — nothing gets handed off partway through.

Our Range Of Services Includes

Local Houma Moves

Gray gets the same crew as Bayou Blue -- load it, drive it, set it down, done inside a day regardless of which end of the parish you're on.

Learn More →

Long-Distance & Interstate Moves

Six lanes cover most of what leaves the state from here: Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Jackson, Mobile, Memphis. Whoever wraps it at the yard rides along and carries it in at the other end.

Learn More →

Residential Moves

A Schriever starter home and a bigger Bourg house get the exact same care -- nothing gets set down until you say where it goes.

Learn More →

Apartment & Multi-Family Moves

Elevators booked, move-in windows confirmed -- our crews have worked enough Thibodaux and Raceland complexes to know the routine before we ever knock.

Learn More →

Full-Service Packing

Glassware, mirrors, electronics -- everything gets wrapped against the humidity before it's boxed, whether that's one room in Chauvin or a whole house in Dulac.

Learn More →

Short-Term Storage

Waiting out a closing date in Cut Off or riding out hurricane season before Golden Meadow's ready -- either way, the storage stays dry until you need it back.

Learn More →

Piano Moving

Raised camp in Montegut, slab house in Gibson, doesn't matter -- moving an upright or a baby grand across the bayou just takes the right straps and a crew that's done it before.

Learn More →

Labor-Only Load/Unload Help

Got the truck already for a Larose or Bayou Cane move? We'll send the muscle to load or unload it on your schedule -- you keep the wheel.

Senior & Retirement Moves

A Thibodaux or Raceland downsize doesn't get rushed here -- we go room by room, at whatever pace actually works for the household.

How A Job Actually Runs

What To Expect

A Houma move breaks down into four stages, start to finish — here is what each one looks like.

1

Kim Walks The Job With You

Most of it happens over the phone — stairs, a stilt-house landing, storm-season flexibility, whatever's actually in the house — before she puts a number to it.

2

Jerome Locks In The Paperwork

Coverage, certificate of insurance if a leasing office needs one, and the final number all get confirmed before the crew is dispatched, not worked out after the fact.

3

Wade Or Dominic Runs The Crew

Whichever one is on your job, furniture gets wrapped before anything is carried through a doorway, stairwell, or stilt-house ramp.

4

Setup, Not Just A Drop-Off

Beds get reassembled, boxes land in the room they're labeled for, and the crew takes the packing debris with them on the way out.

Running Terrebonne Parish Since 2013

Why Houma Keeps Booking Us

Same Crew Chiefs, Year After Year

Wade has run the long-distance side since 2014 and Dominic has led local jobs since 2017 — ask either one about a route or a neighborhood and they'll know it firsthand, not from a training binder.

Stilt Houses And Storm Season Are Normal Here

A piano down a raised staircase, a closing date that slips because of a storm watch, a driveway that floods after a hard rain — none of that throws off the schedule, because it's what most weeks look like in Terrebonne Parish.

One Crew, Start To Finish

Wade's crew loads the truck on Barrow Street and is still the one unloading it whether the drop-off is a short hop to Mobile or the two-day haul up to Atlanta.

★★★★★

“Full pack for our Dulac house took most of the day with all the humidity we get down here, but every piece of glassware made it across town dry and unbroken. Kim's estimate was right on the money.”
